Importance of Furnaces for Recycling Scrap Metal
from:We've all been hearing about the importance of recycling and what it does for us and our environment. There are many good reasons for recycling. It helps us to continue to manufacture goods with less energy consumption, reduces the cost of disposals while extending the life of landfills, and creates jobs for everyone as well as helping the development of more business. Items that are recycled include broken equipment, light fixtures, appliances, aluminum, copper, iron, desks, water heaters, automotive parts and much more too numerous to mention. Many don't realize the energy and natural resources that are saved by recycling steel. In one year, recycling steel saves enough energy to supply 18 million households with electricity for a complete year.
Recycling involves a complete cycle, with part of that cycle using furnaces for recycling scrap metal. When scrap metal is first collected from a site, it is put into specific collection bins in the recycling company yard. The scrap metal is sorted to make sure all the materials are in the correct bin. It is then sent to a processing facility where they separate it from non-metal components and shred it. The next process in the recycling involves the steel being put in furnaces for recycling scrap metal. It's the furnaces for recycling scrap metal that make it possible to roll the material into new steel. Even though there are many steps towards recycling metal, none of it could be done without the use of furnaces for recycling scrap metal.
Working with scrap metal recycling poses a lot of health and safety risks. All individuals that are involved in the recycling process must use appropriate protective equipment including gloves, hard hats, thick clothing and also respirators if hazardous dust is present during the process. Respirators are particularly important for workers near the furnaces for recycling scrap metal. When the workers are using heavy equipment, they must also wear steel toe boots for added protection.
Some of the most hazards come from the furnaces for recycling. Scrap metal is the most common recyclable material and involves a huge process from the beginning to the end. The furnaces have a feeding operation where the scrap metal gets put inside and the melting process begins. It's very common to see and smell fumes from the welding and torching that takes place inside the furnaces for recycling scrap metal. This is another area where protective gear must be worn at all time. OSHA has strict requirements where safety is concerned in scrap metal recycling businesses. However, without these furnaces, the process of recycling would not be complete.
