Metal Recycling Can Make The World Wealthy

from:

Recycling has become commonplace in today's world almost like a habit, specifically metal recycling. Almost everyone you see drinking soda in cans or bottles, will automatically put their container in a special bottle or box for recycling. This effort to reduce waste in our world and help our environment has become a habit for most of us-an excellent habit. Many children save all the soda cans they can as a way to make some spending money as many places will pay for these can for recycling purposes. While these children aren't going to become rich off these empty cans, the world as a whole will become wealthy in what recycling will do for our environment.

The facts regarding the money that's thrown away just threw aluminum is amazing. The state of California has over 13,000 aluminum cans recycled every minute. One aluminum can recycled will save enough energy for a 100-watt light bulb to run for 5 hours or a television for 3 hours. The United Kingdom recycles over 2 ½ billions of cans each year, an amount that would stretch ¾ of the wary around our earth if they were laid out one after the other. The amount of aluminum that's thrown away would be enough to build an entire commercial fleet of airplanes four times each year. These facts, as startling as they are, are only a beginning reason for the importance of metal recycling as well as any other type of recycling that's possible.

Although the world has made metal recycling a household phrase and is emphasized more now than ever, it's actually been around for many years. In addition, it's not just one specific person that's responsible for metal recycling becoming such a necessity. Although garbage was an issue around the settlements as far back as 10,000 BCE, it wasn't until thousands of years later that the first dump was actually started in Greece. When the English Parliament made it against the law to throw waste out in the streets in 1388, they looked for ways for paper and metal recycling to avoid waste.

Through the years, many different products have been developed that actually bring pollution to our environment, which is why the process of recycling has been so important. The three main type of recycling are paper, plastic and metal recycling. These three materials are also the ones that cause the most non-chemical pollution to our environment and the entire earth.

The first incinerator in the United States was put into use in 1885 in New York Harbor, with the first recycling center built in 1897 in New York. Metal recycling became very widely used in Cleveland and Chicago in the early 1900s. Today, Staten Island has the world's largest city dump. In the 1960s, the Solid Waste Disposal Act was started as a way to encourage metal recycling and help the problem of how garbage was being handled everywhere. Aluminum was the first type of metal recycling that the public was made aware of. The concept of recycling was made public on Earth Day in 1970. Metal recycling today is encouraged everywhere in the country now as a way to clean up our environment.
